Description: The single -arched ,stone footbridge of Plaka, connecting the villages of Tzoumerka and Kastanochoria over the river Arachthos ,in the region of Eperus, western Greece,was built in 1866 by master builder Kostas Bekas. With its central arc of 40 meters width and 17,61 hight, Plaka bridge is the largest of its kind in Greece and Balkans and the third largest such in Europe. The central , monumental arc has two small auxiliary arches, 6 meters wide, on either side. It has been fully restored following its collapse due to flooding Arachtos river in February 2015. The photo is taken before the collapse.
